Creating Email Marketing Templates

Marketing Optimizer employs a built-in email marketing template editor, allowing you to create an unlimited number of pre-made email messages and templates for use throughout Marketing Optimizer. In many cases, you also have the option to copy and paste existing designs from external editors into your account as well.

How Its Used

Templates make sending repeatable emails quick and easy. Automating email delivery saves valuable time and ensures messages are sent on time. Custom filters and segments allow you to send targeted notifications and marketing emails. Dynamic field insertion (via Template Legend) allows you to create self-personalizing templates that adjust to each recipient.

Where email templates can be used:

  • Quick-Send (Email Panel) – Manual, direct emailing from within a contact or the “Quick Edit” window to the right of the contact list.
  • Actions Menu – Easy way to instantly send a pre-configured email to multiple recipients.
  • Automations – Automatic emails sent on a time schedule, or triggered by meeting certain filter criteria like status, event (interaction), date, age, product, and more.


The Editor

The integrated template editor includes the tools needed to create all of your templates from scratch. You can also copy and paste work from other editors right into the message display window, or copy the code from an existing HTML template and paste into the “source edit” view.


  • Text Editor – Common text editing tools used to format the style and layout of your email message.
  • Source Edit – Toggles the message window between normal editing and HTML editing.
  • Images – Insert images into your templates by providing a URL to their location*, title text, and alternative dimensions (other than the default size). *NOTE – Images you wish to include in email templates need to be uploaded separately to a publicly available web folder.
  • Template Legend – A list of contact and field related data that can be dynamically inserted into templates, customizing each message’s content to the recipient.

Things To Know

Opt-Out / Unsubscribe Link – The Template Legend provides the field “{unsubscribe}”, which creates a link in your email templates that when clicked by the reader, barrs the recipient from receiving further emails from Marketing Optimizer. You can also filter to require or exclude contacts with email opt-outs on the contact list, in reports, etc..

Email Signatures – The Template Legend also provides a field called “{senderSignature}”, which auto-populates the email message with the signature of whichever user is sending the email. User signatures are configured by clicking your user profile button (located in the upper-right corner of the screen) and scrolling down to “Email Information”.
